ファイザー（東京都渋谷区）は２９日、禁煙治療を目的に開発された、国内初めての
経口禁煙補助薬「チャンピックス」（一般名・バレニクリン酒石酸塩）の
製造販売承認を取得したと発表した。
これまでの禁煙補助薬は、口内粘膜、皮膚から吸収するガムタイプやパッチタイプで、
たばこ代わりにニコチンを補充して禁煙に伴うイライラ感を抑える仕組みだった。
これに対し、チャンピックスは、ニコチン依存に関係する脳内の受容体に働きかけ、
禁煙によるイライラ感、喫煙に伴う満足感も抑制することで禁煙効果を発揮するという。
チャンピックスは０・５ミリ・グラム錠と１ミリ・グラム錠の２種類。投与期間は１２週間で、
医師の処方が必要になる。２００６年８月に米国で販売が開始され、
世界６０か国以上で承認されている。

The administering period is 12 weeks, and the doctor's prescription is needed. Sales
are begun in the United States in August, 2006, and it is approved by 60 countries or
more in the world.
